Ice Racing

This weekend I began consciously challenging myself to keep the main subject of the frame out of the center. Having been more focused on moments than composition lately, it's harder than it seems.

Snowy Statehouse

Shot a few frames around the Statehouse waiting for an assignment and walking back to my car Friday night.

No Spot for a Knee

Concord's Brennan Haywood is kneed between the legs during the semifinal match. As an objective observer, this looked pretty intentional.

Visit to the Statehouse

Gay Marriage Pubic Hearing

Several hundred people attended the public hearing concerning the repeal of the gay marriage law, many dressed in red showing support of gay marriage rights on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2011. Supporters waved their hands instead of clapping to show support for speakers' comments.

And because I'm a sucker for grainy black and whites. The trick is to underexpose and bring it back.

i HEART New Hampshire

After what could have been a cool assignment fell through because there wasn't enough time, I stumbled on this winding my way back to the office. There are a lot of scenes similar to this throughout the state- that New England farm-y woodsy feel. I usually don't bother stopping.

Swimming

I've been cooped up in my house for the past 5 days recovering from having my wisdom teeth removed. Saturday I headed out on my first assignment since the surgery. State championship swimming. I was pumped and motivated, but not being able to light the pool and a lot of down time sapped that motivation away. Here's a few from the night.

Sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't when you want it to so bad. So it goes...

Why Black and White?

The beauty of the D2h above 200 ISO made me do it...the authorities didn't let me use lights.

Looking through old work, Longing for new work

Working on stuff...searching through old stuff...thinking about the way I shot, and the way I shoot. Thinking about the now and the future. Can I be more vague?

Rebuilding a website, a matching blog, going with a new idea along with the website...it's all second to trying to come up with the content, edit the photos so that at the end of the day, it says something as a whole about how and what I like to shoot. My personal touch. It's tough. One part of me wants to post the work from newspapers and stay in that area, another part wants to post stuff like you see below. It's older work, but sometimes I wonder if it's more true to the future work I'd like to do. It's also in color.
