The Blocks: The Audi

I had an assignment the other day to photograph something called "Pitch In" at The Audi, or Concord's City Auditorium. It's an amazing space just a few blocks from my home I had no idea existed. It's my own fault I was unaware the happening place was right down the street. During the annual "Pitch In," people from the community gather to clean and do maintenance jobs around the building, which, in turn, means lower ticket prices for the shows that happen throughout the year. In September there's a gala I'm hoping to check out in order to meet some people.

Also, I found out about a block party on the street in front of my apartment that is happening mid-September.

The non-profit, made up of residents in the community, preserves and maintains the 850-seat theater and organizes "Pitch In," a three-day period where volunteers clean and maintain the building. "It cuts the cost for people buyng tickets," Frizzell said. Taking place over three days, Wednesday was the final day of the 21st annual "Pitch In." Carol Bagan, of Concord, a volunteer, said roughly 120 people have passed through since the first day on Monday.
