Dan Anger drives his tractor back to the barn Thursday afternoon after dropping a bail of hay for his purebred Limousin cattle at his farm just southwest of Gordonville. Entering his thirty-third year raising cattle, Anger picked up the passion from his father, who raised cattle for 33 years, and won the 4-H National Livestock Judging finals in Kansas City at the age of 18. After being drafted in the military and serving two years, Anger moved back to the area and retired after 40 years working as a tradesman for Dow. Now 73, he's retired and doing what he likes best. "I've got the best job I've ever had," he said. "It just keeps me active and I enjoy doing what I'm doing." Anger has also been running the longest livestock club in the county, which started in 1954.

Tyler Wayer, 14, rests on a motorcycle while his dad, Duane Wayer, left, and family friend, Dan Mapes, work to fix the handle bars on Wayer's mountain bike Thursday afternoon. The three were at the Wayer resident's working on the garden and fixing a bike for Tyler and one to bring to his cousin's house near Traverse City. "Tyler's always loved bikes all his life," Duane Wayer said about his son. Mapes, who has been working to fix and rebuild bikes as a hobby for the past 25 years, took charge of fixing the bikes with the help of the Wayers. "I had to build my first bike out of parts, out in our barn," Mapes said, adding that mountain bikes are his specialty.
