More climbing

Went out again this weekend with some climbers I've been hanging with. Here's a few things I shot. Just ind of fooling around. Top three are my favorites from this shoot. This is not traditional rock climbing as most people know it. It's not top-roping or leading or alpine so there are no ropes. It's called Bouldering where climbers find routes to make it to the top of a boulder that could be 5 feet high to 20 feet high. And it's not just scrambling up a rock face. The routes are chosen to be challenging and takes a huge amount of strength and endurance to throw down various techniques in order to reach the top. It's pretty f*cking cool and more fun than going to the gym...LAME.

They use pads to cushion the fall.

BELOW: This guy Dan is only like 2 feet off the ground. But it's so hard to resist putting your feet down and continuing along the route.

I remember seeing that during the judging and thought it was pretty sweet. The light is just awesome. Urban Climber recently had a story some guy shot with a Holga and it looks pretty cool also. The paper has me doing this photo column thing for the end of August and I ended up finding these dudes through an outdoor center that suggested checking out a rock climbing gym in the area. I was looking for anything outdoorsy, but when I found this place I just kept going back because the dudes were really cool. They taught me different climbing techniques and now I go to the gym like every other day cuz it's soo much fun! Thanks for the words.
